Tai Sui of 2005

By Sallie Tsui Sien

Tai Sui, also named the Year Star, is now popularly known as ‘The Grand Duke of Jupiter’. Provided you have access to a Chinese Luo Pan so that you can look at the earth plate for the ring that shows the positions of the twelve earthly branches, you will be able to find the position of Tai Sui. This is shown in the diagram below.

The position of Tai Sui is represented by the earthly branch (animal) of the year. The positions of the twelve earthly branches in a Chinese Luo Pan are:

Rat

North

Ox

Northeast

Tiger

Northeast

Rabbit

East

Dragon

Southeast

Snake

Southeast

Horse

South

Goat

Southwest

Monkey

Southwest

Rooster

West

Dog

Northwest

Boar

northwest

2005 is the year of the Rooster. The rooster’s position is the west between 262.5º and 277.5º and this is the location of Tai Sui for the year.

The ground where Tai Sui sits must not be disturbed nor should you orientate your work desk to face Tai Sui during the year. To avoid obstacles and misfortune, avoid disturbing the ground of this area with construction work, landscaping, digging or major renovation.

Properties with front or back doors to the west must be careful not to allow the doors to slam. Make sure doors open smoothly and easily. Hinges should not be squeaky.

If you are moving furniture around this year, especially your work desk, it is vital that you must never sit facing this direction as this will be seen as confronting Tai Sui.

If the ground where Tai Sui sits is disturbed, occupants may experience defeat, demotion, loss and any venture will be met with obstacles. So please be very careful and know your directions well when planning projects that involve noisy renovation.

If you are moving home or office in 2005, avoid moving into an east or west facing property. If you have to move into a property with an east or west facing, I would strongly advise to avoid moving in during the month of August 7th to September 6th.

Although Tai Sui is considered to be one of the afflictions of the year, it does harbour some benevolence if its location is also influenced by a favourable flying star. In 2005, provided the ground where Tai Sui sits is not disturbed, the influence of Tai Sui can bring influential patrons and helpful people.

However, it is still an affliction and care must be given to the location where it resides.
