The almanac is written from a very general point of view which helps the general public to choose safe dates for certain tasks. In general, the almanac will advise against doing anything important whenever there is a clash of elements in any given day. Apart from selecting a good day, one should also strive to choose a good hour to commence the task.

 

 

Avoid Any Important Tasks

 

Avoid doing anything important on this day such as signing a contract, opening a new business, getting married, moving to a new home or beginning long distance travel.

 

It is also said that anything bought on this day is sure to be lost, misplaced, damaged or stolen at a later date.

Attending a funeral, cremation or burial. Visiting a grave or paying tribute to the dead.

Social gatherings, anniversary or birthday parties, meeting up with friends, stag or hen nights, social celebrations and reunions.

 

 

Healing

 

Appointments made with doctors and specialists or healers (other than emergencies).

 

Spiritual healing

 

Surgery or check ups

 

If it is a bad day for healing, avoid visiting anyone in hospital.

 

 

House moving

 

Moving your bed, stove (hob), oven and major furniture into a new home.

Your first day living in the new home.

The day you replace your bed with a new one.

 

 

Mountaineering

 

Climbing. Hang gliding. Parachuting.

 

New bed

 

 

Installing a new bed. 

This is especially important for the moving in of a new wedding bed or change of matrimonial bed.

 

This can also apply to the assembling and decorating of a new baby cot.

 

 

New door

 

 

Installing a new door.

 

One should also strive to pick a good day to commence work for the opening of a new doorway. 

 

 

New business

 

Negotiating business deals.

 

Signing important documents such as business agreements and contracts, rental and personnel contracts.

 

Opening party.

 

The first day you open for business.

 

Buying and paying for a new domain name for your website.

 

The day your site is published live on the internet.

 

***Tip*** Choose this day to buy or collect your business car.

 

 

New Job

 

Attending interviews.

Negotiating your terms of employment or signing your job contract.

The day you start a new job.

 

***Tip***  Avoid sending out your CVs on this day when the Almanac advices against it.

 

New stove

 

The purchase and installation of a new stove.

 

New water feature

 

 

Filling the well, swimming pool, lake or fountain with water.

Filling the pond or aquarium with water, live plants or fish.

Activating the water pump for the pool, pond, water fountain or aquarium.

 

 

Personal Grooming

 

 

A new haircut, facial or body treatment at home or in a beauty centre, spa visits, manicure and pedicure.

 

Renovations

 

When renovating an area, choose a good day to start the work whether

a new coat of paint, knocking or building a partition or replacing doors and windows

 

***Tip*** Strive to choose a good day to move back into the room as you would for a new house.

 

 

Space Clearing

 

 

House spring cleaning and floor polishing.

Ritual space clearing either with sounds, chanting or incense.

 

Stove Repair

 

Getting your stove, hob or oven, electric rice cooker repaired.  

Buying and replacing a new stove, hob, oven or electric rice cooker.

 

***Tip***  Never buy any of the above on ‘an inauspicious day’.

 

Travel

For work or for leisure by any mode of transport.

For long distance travel, it is the day you start your trip.

For migrating, you should coincide this day with a good day for moving to a new home.

Wedding

 

Proposing to your loved one.

Engagement party.

Sending out wedding invitations or for engagement party.

Wedding day.

Some Chinese traditions involve a separate day for the tea ceremony.

 

***Tip*** - Do not book or place any important orders on ‘an inauspicious day’.

 

Worship

 

Prayers, giving thanks, blessings.
